Season's Change...Week 37

Season:  one of the four periods of the year (spring, summer, autumn, and winter), beginning astronomically at an equinox or solstice, but geographically at different dates in different climates.

Every morning on our way to my daughters school  we go past a ranch with a long row of big trees that surely change with the seasons but we hardly notice.  My kids and I have decided to embark on a project that will help us notice that gradual change on the trees.  My daughter Sophia  will take at least a weekly picture after school for a whole year, I will post it on my blog entry on Thursdays and my little one Xavi wants in it too so he will take a picture of some cows from a different ranch and improve his picture taking skills.

So, this week we really did not go out much and here is our famous row of trees (I zoomed in from my backyard)  Picture taken on 6-29-11

Cow story:  the cows we used to take pictures of have been missing since December.  Kids are on the lookout!

 Xavi was thinking where can we find the cows??

 he looked under the bed...and he found his lost baseball mitten!

 ...and a sock! 

 then Sophia came to help with the search.

 and she found her precious unicorn!!

 ...and one of Xavi's gun.

There were no cows in Xavi' room. I surely don't have to tell you that all of these pictures are poses right???

This week has been awkward, we stayed in the house most of the week...we only went out on Monday to the Post Office and to the mall lots of pj's and lots of movies which is a good thing, but too much of it gets me depressed :(  I cried Tuesday night for silly things...That's why I invited you for breakfast yesterday, you always make me feel good when you visit! my husband does not work today he's coming home and Valeria is coming with him, that's a good thing a full house always makes the days go faster!  Early tomorrow we drive to San Diego I will be at my mom's :)

Backyard Camping

A couple of weeks ago we camped right in our backyard

I am not really an outdoors kind of person 

but this was a really fun experience.

We ate hot dogs and had the convenience of the kitchen and bathrooms right next to us!

My husband set up the tent during the day

He set up a bonfire and we roasted marshmallows.

We did used charcoal because we didn't have a lot of wood.

Perfection?? humm I don't know!

We hate s'mores!  Sophia doesn't like chocolate

so I bought white Hershey's for here.

Xavi opted for eating marshmallows as is no, no roasting.

He didn't miss the opportunity to use the skewer as a sword

...he watches too many ninja movies

It was still day light and we read scary books "Where's my Mummy" picked by Xavi (not scary by the way)

The other book we all had agreed upon when we planned camping

It's called "La Llorona" (The weeping woman)

A popular Mexican legend about a very pretty lady

that killed her two sons to be with the man she loved

and later she regreted it
and called for her kids at night!!

We went to the library to check out the books.

But Sophia was having second thoughts 

about having the story read

she finally agreed on listening to it 

I read it when it was still day light

We watched the sunset and the pretty colors

of the sky. 

we watched the stars, Sophia's was very proud of her recent acquired knowledge of astronomy 

She recently went on a field trip to the San Jacinto College Planetarium.  She showed us the Big Dipper.

We made scary faces!

Xavi's flashlight came in very handy!

We had a great camping experience!

Hey!...the messiest hair contest is over now! lol!

Yard Sale

We had a yard sale this morning.

We had lots of clothes, some toys and nick nacks for sale

25 cents apiece, we needed to get rid of everything!

Xavi spent his time directing traffic!

...and resurrecting long lost toys

 until he decides 'hey no more pictures'

 You'd be happy to know that I rode my bike

to check out neighbor sales around us!

my bike has new brakes and new seat!

we made $49 dollars.

Not bad for things that haven't been used for more than six months!
