Postal Service

So we left last Wednesday, destination: San Diego, Holiday: Thanksgiving.  We had a great time, cooking chatting, eating with family.  Great family news also, my sister is engaged!  My cousin and his girlfriend are expecting their first baby!  I come back home and Happy Mail is waiting in the mail box!!  What could be better??  Great looking box nicely wrapped from my lovely friend Kary and her son Miguelito

The box was addressed to Claudia but my little one was anxious to open it!  This was really a Christmas Kickoff we cannot thank you enough Kary and Miguelito.  I would like to share some of the pictures of that special moment!

Isn't that a great looking box?  Xavi had shed some tears because he had been wanting to open it but we had to unpack first :(  oh and he got a haircut!

Inside there was a lovely letter from Kary and individual packages for each one of us! All of the items were very nice and we already put them to use...chocolates, candies, pencils, coloring books & crayons,  toys, notepad, a lovely purse for Sophia, body spritz and lip gloss, Christmas socks and pedicure set for me and a bracelet!  Oh my! how thoughtful of  Kary and her son!

The moment of surprise, Xavi loved everything he received!

Sophia loved her body spritz and her purse (I am jealous!) she said she will carry it wherever she goes!

The kids said I should be in the pictures so here I am me and Xavi sharing a bite of the chocolate!

Warm comfy Christmas socks!  I wore them last night to bed!

Now I hate pictures of me but this one is for you Kary!  My sister straightened my hair so I have to show off!

We cannot thank you enough Kary and Miguelito we loved everything you sent on that special package and you made it feel like Christmas...beware because I have your address now!

On a last note I also got a couple of cards from a fellow etsian.  She is an architect living in Germany and I put one of her items in a Treasury she was nice enough to write me a lovely letter and sent me two of her cute cards!.  This is her shop 7WOOD.  Thank you very much 7WOOD.  Happy Holydays!

Isn't that nice for Postal Service.  Thank you all I send you much love!

City of Hemet

We moved to the city of Hemet a year and three months ago,  1 1/2 hour drive from San Diego where we lived.  We are now homeowners which was our purpose, and my husband drives back and forth to work there.  We drive to San Diego mostly every Friday after school visit my mom and my father in law spend Friday afternoon and Saturday and drive back home on Saturday afternoon.  What I miss the most of course is seeing my mom and my sister everyday (my sister also moved from San Diego and she is 1 hour away from where I live). I also miss San Diego's warm summers and mild winters.  Hemet averages 110 + degrees during the summers and 40 degrees during winters.  We do not get any snow here in Hemet but the San Jacinto Mountains get some, only thirty minutes away from us.  We  had a rainy weekend and the mountains got their first snow of the season.  Something we were not used to seeing.

These are the San Jacinto Mountains, I am a bit bummed because there's a lot of clouds and can't really see the small amount of snow that I wanted to show you, like I said we're not used to snow!

I felt like doing a bit of research on my new town and share with you:
Hemet is a city in the San Jacinto Valley in Riverside County CA. It covers a total area of 27.1 square miles (70 km2), about half of the valley,  In 2009 the city's population was estimated to be 74,361 add 5 more people because we were now counted in this past 2010 Census.   The valley is also known for being an area of agriculture, which has given way to more urbanized development as time goes on. The area has also experienced great growth recently, and is a fast growing area of the Inland Empire (This info taken from  Wikipedia)

This is Downtown Hemet where most of my thrift shops are located.

The Hemet Museum is housed in the historic Hemet Train Depot right in the center of town.

Cawston Elementary School, Sophia's school and Xavi better get ready because he's going to Kindergarden next year!

This is our Public Library and this year celebrated its 100th Anniversary

We have a nearby lake where we have already gone fishing, several museums that we still need to visit, enough thrift shops so I can spend time there, The Ramona Bowl Amphitheater, a Science Center.  I do have to admit this research did good to me! :)  I just found out when and where the Farmer's market takes place!

I am so thankful that we now have a place of our own in this City of Hemet, and that I have a great husband that works the hardest in order to provide for our family.  And I am so looking forward to getting together with my family on this Thanksgiving.

What are you thankful for?  Happy Thanksgiving!

I did it...yes!!

I can't really believe I did it...I am so computer naive, really!  I found this great tutorial by The Curious Pug on how to make a blog button without a software program and decided to give it a try ...great tutorial I say yes, but it took me half a day to finally do it.  Lots of mistakes,  frustrations, errors, resizing...but I am so proud of myself I DID IT!!!

My poor son Xavi has been eating cookies and ice cream all morning and has been mothered by his 8 year old sister...I asked her too...what the heck it's Saturday right and now I feel like I accomplished something good.  Just don't ask me to do it again!!

Here are my blog buttons:

Seasons Change Week 11

Season:  one of the four periods of the year (spring, summer, autumn, and winter), beginning astronomically at an equinox or solstice, but geographically at different dates in different climates.

Every morning on our way to my daughters school  we go past a ranch with a long row of big trees that surely change with the seasons but we hardly notice.  My kids and I have decided to embark on a project that will help us notice that gradual change on the trees.  My daughter Sophia  will take at least a weekly picture after school for a whole year, I will post it on my blog entry on Fridays and my little one Xavi wants in it too so he will take a picture of some cows from a different ranch and improve his picture taking skills.

So now it's 95 yellow and 5 green on one side of the row of trees.  The trees on the end are greener. Pictures taken on 11-18-10

Way back here in this picture are the cows.  Now, I don't promise pictures next week as my daughter is out of school for a whole week yay!  Have great weekend.

Early Bird

One of my facts that I've stated before it's that  I am an early bird...very early bird really I am up everyday at 4:00 am when my husband leaves for work.
I start my routine, check my emails, Facebook, blog, tweet a bit  you might even think I am crazy if you see me tracing and cutting my envelopes and working on special orders at 4:00 in the morning all of this while I am doing laundry ah!  At 6:00 am I get the kids up make breakfast and we are out the door by 7:20
When the girls are dropped off Schools starts at 7:50 Me and Xavi are off to grocery shopping, maybe Walmart or Target, maybe a thrift shop or two, the Post Office...We get back to the house and I am not done, there is always something else to do...

And who says house work is not a full time job?? 24/7 I tell them

NOTE:  Of course I am the bird outside the cage.

What to buy on a Wednesday...Great plum color

Great etsy finds in plum!  Plum is in the analogous range on the color wheel, making it a good choice to combine with light blue. Plum is also a classic autumn color: fruity and fresh, it brings to mind berries at harvest. Combine this with a jeweled green for a harmonious look. Which pick is your favorite?

Every time more yellow shows on these trees!  Pictures taken on 11-9-10  Also leaves are falling off... Autumn is finally showing!

The cows were way back this time!  The kids get all excited when we actually get out of the car in order to take the picture!  they love posing! But it does says private property and no trespassing! I am actually a chicken and think they're going to let those cows loose for us! hurry hurry!!!

Sophia is showing us here how to milk the cows!  Xavi and his Ninja moves!

Posted this on Thursday because tomorrow morning we are going to San Diego and then we'll cross the border to Tijuana and then I will have some carne asada tacos!!! yes!

Shoreline Fishing Adventure

Yesterday we went shoreline fishing on a nearby lake called Diamond Valley Lake only 10 minutes away from us.  To be honest this is my second time gone fishing with my husband and this is the also the kids first time.  My husband wanted to bond with his son you know man to man show him the skills...but us girls tagged along!  We had a picnic and had a wonderful time.  It so happened that Xavi wasn't much into fishing he enjoyed his time throwing rocks at the lake he said at one point "this is boring but I like it".  Sophia had the greatest time and she did like fishing even made her dad promise her that we'd be back!

Great Sunday well spent!  I want to do it again!

We finally stopped and counted 90 trees along this road.  Picture taken on 11-4-10   We really don't get any snow on this city but the  top of the mountains do!

At the top of one of those  mountains there is a little town called Idyllwild where they do get some snow and if you keep going straight you get to Arizona!  This is my family last year when we first visited that  lovely town!

Vintage Music Envelopes

I have been busy busy working on this custom listing and I am so excited I'm finally done with it!  200 Vintage Music Envelopes size 7x7 That is a totally bigger size envelope than what I am used to do!!  But I certainly had my fun hunting those Vintage Music books at my local thrift shops, getting some extra more books for my envelopes, buying some more knick knacs and of course Xavi got also a toy here and there!! lol!

Tracing, cutting and gluing are stress relievers for me and I had great time working on this order which has been one of the largest custom orders I've ever had!  They will be used to mail an 8 page Christmas booklet made to look like an old leather book to my customer's family and friends.  I am so glad she choose me to be a part of that!  I'd love to share with you the end result!

Yes, the Holidays are here!
