the good the bad and the weekend

Hello, hello how are you my friends? What's new with you guys?
 nothing much with me just same ol' same ol' well I do have a couple of things to share.

For the good and the bad I 'd like to tell you  that Javier has been on a cleaning and decluttering mode for the past two weeks.  He does say straight out "I am on a cleaning mode" and he would start getting rid of things that "he thinks" need to be gone...well I warned the kids "your dad is on cleaning mode so If want things that you love, appreciate or want to keep and they are out of place or in disarrangement you better find a good place for them because he really is on a cleaning spree!"  That's the bad part :(

But the good good part is that cleaning does free you and makes you feel lighter don't you agree?  Besides, cleaning the pantry, cleaning file cabinets getting rid of old papers, cleaning out closets getting rid of clothes that haven't been worn in years I have been cleaning out my inbox as well.  I confess I am quick at subscribing to newsletters...but when I check my email I am overwhelmed and just delete delete...It's just sad for me because I wish I had the time but really don't.
So there! cleaning is the good thing :)

I'd like to also share that the first weekend of September we fiesta like there was no mañana.  It's been awhile since we've gone to a Birthday party and this one was NICE :)

 We went to a 10 year old twins Birthday Party Mexican style.  It was fun and I am sure to say that Emma was the one who had the most fun.  You see she was free to roam around the whole time! We could not keep her sitting down staying still.  I mean how could we?  she's only 18 months right?? So yes she was free to walk around, squeeze in between tables and chairs, smile, mingle,  talk to people, she ate candies, ate food, drank juice and all those things you do at Birthday parties. But it was hard to keep track of where she was among all the people and there was quite a few people. Sophie had the  most brilliant idea she's ever had!  we tied a red balloon on Emma's waist so that we could locate her quickly!

We also had fun taking pictures!  I am sad to say that with all the things I have to carry with Emma, diaper bag, snack bag, toy bag etc etc It's hard to remember and carry my camera too.
So these pictures were taken with my crappy cell phone camera.

So you see there in the background there's my little red balloon. pardon me my daughter. 

I also like to share that last Friday I completed another prompt from my 45 by 45 list!
Enjoy my 45th birthday! 

I turned 45 yikes!  I let nothing ruin the day because you know sometimes things do happen.
Honestly and truly I savored the day!
Emma and I went on a bike ride early in the morning, didn't do much housework (purposely).
Valeria came over from San Diego and in the afternoon all six of us went out to eat so I didn't cook :)
After that we went out and bought a chocoflan...if you haven't had it just click on the link to see all the images and your mouth will water I promise. Allow me to also mention that every time Emma saw the cake she would start singing "appy appy" her version of Happy Birthday.
Sophie has been good and helping me portion my slices.  She does watches after me because I could eat half a cake in one sitting and that is not a good thing.

It's been a while since we've spent an afternoon all together because of Valeria's work schedule.  

On Saturday we drove to San Diego and celebrated some more at my mom's.  

Then on Sunday Xavi had a tough game but the boys came through from a loosing score on the first half 0 to 2 they beat the other team 4 to 3 that was exciting!
then we finish the afternoon watching a movie at home and went to bed early on Sunday :)

So there, I actually enjoyed my whole weekend how is that??

I hope you have been good and hope this week is a productive one for all of us!

ps I know I only did about a third of the items on my list this time it is really a bucket list :/

Emma's 1st

First of all apologies guys...picture overload ahead!! 

Even though some are blurry and not so perfect lighting Emma's celebration was great!  

Had a great time with the family!  That is exactly how I like my parties!!

Now I think my life can go on after having celebrated Emma's Birthday party.  

No more dreaming of yellow and bees!

The Happiest Birthday...

Emma has hit the 1-year mark. Happy birthday Sweet Girl!  She has brought joy, happiness, frustration and lots of work for this family.  Yup tough days and harder nights.  We've grown together, laughed together...we've also cried together.  It's been a roller coaster.  But thank God he sent her to us.  I cried this morning as I sang Happy Birthday to her, no worries nobody saw me except Emma as she was watching me and just smiling :)

She is crossing the line into toddlerhood, it's a bittersweet transition. I miss my little baby even as I delight watching the amazing child she is becoming.

Can't wait to celebrate tomorrow on her Birthday party!

this and that and dreams in yellow

Hi guys how are you?  I have been fine luckily I didn't drown last week with all that water that poured on us. It was just lots of streets flooded and road closures.   

The first two weeks of this year have been very busy for me.  Sophia started her hip hop classes and thinks is still  too cold to wear dresses therefore the lack of What She Wore posts. She is very excited to go to High School next year.  She will be 14 on the 22 of this month and I have been sewing a Scrump doll from the movie Lilo and Stitch.  She's all into rag dolls, plushies and  teddy bears nowadays.

Xavi is still busy with his soccer practice.  This is his first time playing with AYSO and they won second place before the Christmas break.  So, now they are getting ready to play against teams from different cities. We'll see how far they advance. In the picture above he is getting ready for his Christmas concert last month. Aww my baby Xavi!

I really cannot believe how fast approaching is Emma's first Birthday.  In five weeks she'll be 1 years old.  I had been dreaming of her first Birthday party since she was born.  My sister suggested a Bee party and I fell in love with the idea.  I love DIY parties and there are just lots of details that I want to be just right...not perfect but just right. I've been dreaming of the color yellow and bees lately too much.  Even though we all know that 1 year olds cry, or sleep during their first party I want Emma's party to be a day of celebration!

I've lost track of how many times Sophie and I have baked the beehive cake and tried to perfect it each and every time.  We still have to make adjustments to the frosting because I was not happy with this one.  I took this picture back on December 6th and still didn't have the edible marker to finish up the bees that's why the bees look weird bugs!!

It's really a very inspiring  post to read at the beginning of  a New Year.  One of the points mentioned there and that I've never done is meditate.  That really called my attention and said why not? why not try mediation and see how it works for me.  So this morning I downloaded the app and it was funny because I opened it and it started with real soft and soothing nature sounds which I thought oh cool!  but then I touched the meditate button and it went on talking about 5 minute session introduction to meditation and I instantly thought wait I don't have time for that!!!  But no you guys I already promised myself I will do it! really!! That's why I always come to this little blog of mine to tell you all these little things and to make myself liable for them.

Have you ever used meditation?

Birthday

How are you my friends?  We certainly had a busy weekend in this casa of ours.  Xavi turned 9 on Sunday.  We celebrated his Birthday on Saturday.

I always like DIY parties, nothing big just family really.  This time all I needed was some tissue paper, paint tape, a fish tank and a fed baby!  

Xavi had a game on Saturday, so after the game the girls and I went to pick up the cake while Javier and Xavi went home and took showers it was so hot triple digits still!!  

what happened Summer I thought you were gone? 

Then we got home and showered while Javier went to get the pizzas. My father in law and my sister and her family joined us for the celebration.

We ate and talked while watching a soccer match, the kids played and really had a nice time.

While I was cutting the cake I asked Javier to take a picture of Xavi.  Later I was browsing to see the pictures he had taken. Really?? a mugshot with a smirk and guilty look? OMG

I took the picture on the right.  Get a little bit of the decorations you know, ask the kid for a smile show some teeth at least!  There's the Birthday spirit!  

We ended up the night bowling a two hour session.  After about an hour and a half the adults were mostly tired and the kids ended up bowling for us.  We had a great time!

Happy Birthday to my baby Xavi!  yikes he's 9 already!! He's currently a 4th grader playing the trumpet in school and reading the first book of Harry Potter! where did time go?...
