Season's Change...Week 40

Season:  one of the four periods of the year (spring, summer, autumn, and winter), beginning astronomically at an equinox or solstice, but geographically at different dates in different climates.

Every morning on our way to my daughters school  we go past a ranch with a long row of big trees that surely change with the seasons but we hardly notice.  My kids and I have decided to embark on a project that will help us notice that gradual change on the trees.  My daughter Sophia  will take at least a weekly picture after school for a whole year, I will post it on my blog entry on Thursdays and my little one Xavi wants in it too so he will take a picture of some cows from a different ranch and improve his picture taking skills.

Cow story:  the cows we used to take pictures of have been missing since December.  Kids are on the lookout!

No time for a cow search this week,
Sophia is happy and content with her purple unicorn pillow pet!

I will take a break...see you soon my lovies!

I "mint" to call and thank you
but i couldn't find a quarter
I "mint" to send you flowers
but my mind was out of order
I " Mint" to stop and see you

I "Mint" to try much harder

My bed

I caught Xavi jumping on my bed some days ago,
what else do kids do on mommy's bed right?
He didn't see me at first,
I ran quickly to get the camera,
after he saw me he was just straight posing
for me and making his moves
he had a good night sleep after a shower!

Do you remember jumping on your mom's bed!
I do!

Life before computers!

I came across this on my friend's wall on Facebook I am not claiming it's mine.  I 'd just like to share it, too funny! :)
LIFE BEFORE THE COMPUTER:

Memory was something you lost with Age...
An Application was for Employment...
A program was a TV show...
A Cursor used profanity...
A Keyboard was a piano...
A Web was a spider's home...
A Virus was the Flu....
A Hard Drive was a long trip on the road...
A Mouse was something the Cat chased...
And if you had a 3 inch floppy...
YOU just hoped NOBODY found out !!!

Ten more facts

1.  I am not a leader
2.  I am a follower
3.  I trust easily
4.  I am not into politics
5.  I can be naive on some situations
6.  I see the good in people until they show me their bad side
7.  In a dog eat dog world I'd be eaten
8.  In a survival of the fittest situation I'd die
9.  I am happy that I found a man that is the opposite in some of the above
10.  We complement each other

*10 more facts  and I finish my goal of 100 facts on the about me page!

Anniversary

Today it's my twelve year wedding anniversary!
Twelve years of ups and downs, better or worse, sickness and health.
After two kids plus the one he came into our marriage with we are still together
and only going strong...
He makes my heart happy, he makes me feel loved, safe and secure.

But my husband is the kind of men with the worst memory.
At the beginning of July he remembered it was our anniversary month.
He said "Happy Anniversary before I forget"
He asked me last Thursday when it's our anniversary again?
On Friday he said two more days and it's our anniversary.
I can only see that the man is working hard on remembering the date!
One more reason to love him!

I dare ask you do you have a man like mine??

Etsy finds...Pink Panther

My kids discovered the Pink Panther the other day on Netflix.  I mean discovered because they have seen it before but not really watched any of the cartoon shows.  So there we were watching the pink panther.  The kids were really enjoying it and I was reliving it! I loved that show!

Then Sophia came up with the question of the panther's gender.  I hesitated there for a moment...I really forgot.  Although there was no dialog in the cartoons only a laugh track Me and my brothers watched the show in Spanish and the announcer/narrator would address the show as "La Pantera Rosa"  "la" meaning of feminine gender.

Following are some wonderful pink etsy finds:

 DevikaBox

It does take a real men to wear pink, they wear all shades of pink! I think the panther is a guy who happens to be pink!  But the again I thought Blues Clues was a boy!  I was wrong...what are your thoughts on the issue??

I am trying to teach my little Xavi that he can wear pink if he likes!
he is not too thrilled about it...
Can you see it on his fake smile??

Note to self...hopes

I just hope that in Xavi's future
there is a kind heart that reminds him once in a while
to call his mother.

Better yet I hope that he never forgets!

I have to remind my husband sometimes..

Cloth napkins

I recently read that over the course of a person's life
he or she might use a grand total of 76650 paper napkins!
doing the math 3 meals a day for
365 days over a life span of 70 yrs

Statistics in my personal opinion are just that...numbers
True or not that sounds like an awful lot of paper napkins!

I am trying to make a change on our daily habits, we are converting from using paper napkins to cloth napkins.  I've been toying with the idea for a couple of months now and yesterday I finally bought some cloth napkins!  My only concern was the laundering system...but I guess I have to stock up on them and I will trow them in with my regular loads. I do laundry very often anyways!

I found these colorful napkins at one of my local thrift shops.  They were new (except for two that seemed to have been washed before) I paid a total of $4.65 for 16 napkins including the six rings those weren't new but I thought they went perfectly with the color napkins I found.

I am not sure if my 16 cloth napkins will make a change in my effort to go greener and leaving less footprints behind in this world but the kids are
sure enjoying this change and I am happy I did!

What about you paper or cloth??

Note to self...Counting the days!

Remind me next time not to make such long term
commitments when it comes to blogging!
We are on week 39 now and I am counting down the days till season's change is over.  Hemet is a small town and we are running out of places to visit and look for those darn cows. I know for a fact that we've missed at least 4 weeks so we are definitely close to the one year mark.  I know its getting dull and boring :/
thanks for sticking by :)

Today I came across TickerFactory.com

great way to count down days to a special event!

Season's Change Week 39

Cow story:  the cows we used to take pictures of have been missing since December.  Kids are on the lookout!

This week we took our truck for tire rotation not oil change, I have to say that I do not like going to the mechanic because they always want to sell you or offer you a service you are not there to get.  But I do it anyways because my husband works all week long and the least I could do is take it for a tire rotation so he does not have to do it on the weekend!

Oh, but now I had two kids with me and hoping that the wait would not be that long.  Sophia took along a book to read and a pet toy. Xavi also had his pet toy, he had promised me that he'd be good in exchange for some potato chips after we got out of the mechanic.

yeah he sat for the first five minutes...

then he remembered his potato chips and sat back again!

Once Sophia was done with her reading she also got out her toy pet.

No cows at the mechanic this week, but the kids had fun waiting 1hr 1/2 while playing with their
zhu zhu pets  a battery operated hamster ;) afterwards we all enjoyed a bag of chips.

Etsy Finds...Beach Inspiration

Like I mentioned yesterday I am not really a beach person...
I really don't know how it happened
don't even mention a bathing suit :(
I guess as we grow up we start getting some
insecurities and don't forget the
fact that I never learned how to swim.

As a child I remember I enjoyed the beach.
I even remember I took my first picture there,
it was a picture of my mom and my brother
my mom's head was cut off...ah!
Hey it was my very first picture.

Mar Vista was the name of my High School it was in the surfer Town of Imperial Beach, CA walking distance to the beach
and yes I skipped a couple of classes and strolled there
(only a couple! true to God)

My mom has mentioned to me that
my dad would like to go to the beach
I might just take him there for  a walk one of these days...

These are some wonderful etsy beach finds
that I'd like to share with you in hopes of getting some inspiration

Do you enjoy going to the beach?
I know some people don't have the opportunity to do so!
Which one is your favorite setting??

Beach weather

So it's been beach weather lately
...honestly I am not a beach person
I like it once in a while just to get my feet wet, splash in the water, walk in the sand, watching the sunset...
But I do hate being in the sun for too long, I get headaches.

The fact that we don't go to the beach very often
does not stop my kids from
enjoying some splash fun!
Even in a tiny pool!!
