the good the bad and the weekend

This week was pretty normal and nothing much out of the ordinary happened.  I love shopping at Kohl's.  I have a love hate relationship with that store they send you so many coupons that agghh!  I have been doing the shop, save and repeat routine.  I scored some bath towels online for about $4.50 a piece and free shipping!  You should see Javier's face when I tell him I saved you some money!!  I baked my first batch of fudgy chocolate cookies made with avocado! nobody knew it until I told them!  Xavi loved them, he said they were great, delicious the best cookies ever until I told him they had avocado then he said "well they do taste funny and different"
We've been trying to get out of the house to get fresh air as the days get hotter and hotter.
You cannot imagine how many times we went up and down this street so that Sophie captured the perfect shot or at least one or two that I liked... many, many times!
Aww the joys of bike riding with the little ones! Bike riding is fun!

The weekend got more exciting as my sister got married on Saturday.  I was having so much fun and chasing after Emma that I didn't take a lot of pictures.
Some photos were shared on Instagram as well as Facebook.
Talking about Emma she would not get out of the dance floor.

Then on Sunday we celebrated Father's Day. We went out for breakfast and gave Javier a few gifts.  We bought him an adult coloring book for de-stressing.  He got the color pencils out and started coloring and joking "oh yes this is de-stressing, I am so relaxed now I feel great!" later in the afternoon he got his coloring book out and started working on it again.  I  felt like coloring too so no doubt I will color a page or two in the near future.  Have you got one?  have you tried coloring for de-stressing purposes??

I have been thinking a lot lately about my 45 by 45 list.  It's been in the back burner for a while now...It was put on hold for the whole pregnancy and then after Emma I only did a couple of things.  Forty fifth Birthday is coming in September...oh well :/  I hope I have many more years until I really hit the bucket.

Hope you have a wonderful week ahead and a lovely start of Summer my friends!
We're having a heat wave here in California whopping 108 yesterday today will be hotter..

Bravo Bravo!

This past Saturday we joined in a wedding celebration in Tecate Mexico.  Tecate it's a border sister with Tecate, California it's a lovely valley surrounded by mountains.  I was afraid we were not only going to bake but steam as well.  I was glad I was wrong because the weather was just perfect.

The invitations said ceremony at 6:00 pm, well we get there and everybody is still doing preparations. We were told by the Bride's sister that ceremony will start at 7:00 pm  She was sneaky but very smart. You see there's the pacific, mountain, central and eastern time zones and then there's the "Mexican time zone." Not very proud of that but you should know that most Mexicans are always late if you tell them be there at 3:00  they'll be there at 5:00 if lucky.  Then there's always the Mexican saying "you're never late to a party!" ...but then again we're not regular Mexicans we hate being late!
So we got to enjoy the ceremony as planned. The Bride was my husband's cousin, she was beautiful she is a seamstress and made her own dress!  They make a very good looking couple. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs Bravo!
The ceremony took place right when the sun was hiding, the night falling and the moon coming up! It was just magical!

It was a knockout reception outdoors as well, good music (although Sophie didn't enjoy the music that much) and good food too!  Emma had a hard time once she fell asleep. The poor thing kept waking up because of the music and I bet she was not comfortable sleeping in her stroller.  When we were leaving she finally had a meltdown and cried non-stop in the car for a long time.  Javier stopped the car so I could comfort her and put her back to sleep but it took a while...sigh. Next morning she woke up fresh as a lettuce and smiled as I greeted her good morning. Oh that girl!
This is how it all ended shoes off!  LOL!!  I don't know who they belonged to but I thought it was so funny that I had to take a pic.  I will come back this week to share a couple more pictures of the photo booth fun we had.

spring break

This past  Friday the kids started their 1 week Spring Break. Sophia received an award for reading.
I was at the parking lot waiting to go in the multipurpose room
when I saw her name popped up on the screen :)
Although there are days that are not easy, she still makes me proud in many ways! Right after school we drove to San Diego to a Quinceañera party.
Not happy about the dress but her Christmas socks made her feel comfortable, she was wearing my black wedges here... she wore her old tennis shoes to the party.
Here is the Quinceañera and her dance which is the most awaited moment of the night.
I don't like feeling tipsy in front of people but I had two margaritas...I drank them slowly very slowly.
Then I had a sangria...awe!! yeah I was feeling good!
We had fun at the photo booth
I told my husband don't wear the boa...but he insisted.  You see that tall girl on the back?  she is my husband's sister she is a tall girl.  She is only 16.
Saturday morning after we slept only for about 5 or 6 hours we woke up early, to meet my mother in law because I was crossing the border to drive her to the airport.  At the border on the way back I got a strawberry and lemon ice cream...well deserved.  Then when I crossed we drove back to Hemet.
I just felt life taking a long long nap!

Party and a lesson in confidence.

So here are some pictures of the Quinceanera we attended last Saturday.  For those of you that don't know a Quinceanera is sort of like a Sweet Sixteen party (except the girls turns fifteen) some people go all out and spend all kinds of money!!  This was a very nice party.  The lighting was weird and everything looked pink and I am not good at picture taking under such circumstances.  Then when they opened the dance floor everything looked blue!  Oh well...

The food was delicious, it was chicken with a sort of chipotle sauce.  I was the designated driver so I drank punch with the kids...anyways I only drink wine at my house and when no one except my husband and kids are in the house.  I feel kind of weird if someone else sees me with a glass of wine.

Anyways, you know I don't dance but I still had a great time.
I was taught a magic trick by my husband's uncle (he really was teaching Xavi)
but I got to practice balancing  a quarter and a fork on a wine glass without touching the glass
the hard part was balancing two forks :/

I got to wear a little extra make up and my pointy high heels about 2 1/2 inch high heels by the way.  I am so insecure that I kept asking Sophie if I looked alright.  She asked me if you feel uncomfortable why do you wear extra make up?  She really got me thinking there.  My Sophie is so confident she does not care what people think of her.  She wears her curls loose all the time and she loves it. To the party she wore a sheer dress and her tennis shoes with some fluffy socks.  I kept asking her even a few hours before the party if she wanted to wear some flats and she kept saying no.  I wish I had her confidence and her cheerful attitude.

Here is a little taste of her confidence.  I admire her, I really do!
