Quick update and the last stretch...

Hello guys this is a quick post just to let you know how I am doing.  Yesterday I started week 26 ( total of 40 weeks in pregnancy)  Ninety-seven days to meet my baby girl! Basically the last stretch! I certainly feel slower, heavier and anxious.  During the first and second trimester as I had trouble sleeping at night ( and I still am ) I took a lot of day naps as I was feeling tired. I listened to my body after all it's making a baby.  I don't feel as tired now but now I have that nesting feeling yup cleaning and cleaning that's all I wanna do!  Getting things ready for when baby is here.

Every morning I walk 30 minutes at Xavi's school before the bell rings.  At first he walked with me but as he made friends he told me that scientists say that kids that walk with their moms are not cool.  I got it :(  So now he walks with his friends while I walk alone.

I am sticking to that walking ritual religiously because a couple of weeks ago I found what I thought it was a bump on the road.  I failed my glucose screening.  My hospital set the standards very low to catch potential Gestational Diabetes.  A couple of days after that I had to do the three hour glucose test.  You have to be fasting they draw blood, then you drink this nasty sugary drink, they draw blood again three more times every hour to find out how your body processes glucose.   So my fasting numbers were good, then they rose with the sugary drink, after an hour the numbers were supposed to lower but mine rose a bit, then at the very last blood draw my numbers finally lowered.  So I failed one blood draw out of 4.  That was a Friday so obviously all weekend I broke down and cried and cried.  I googled and googled Gestational Diabetes I think that did not helped at all it only made me more anxious.  Monday morning I called my doctor's office and they said that my body was having a little bit of trouble processing glucose.  Gestational diabetes was not diagnosed. Small dietary changes would help such as getting rid of sugar, soda, juices, breads, pastries and all that stuff that we already know is soo good but bad for our healths.  I don't have a sweet tooth at all but I am not taking any chances so I am strictly sticking to the dietary changes hence the walking every morning.

Oh! Xavi received the student of the month award he makes me so proud and Sophie has been at her best behavior helping out as never before.  The floor has never felt so far.  I don't know why but I drop things constantly I've been so clumsy lately.  Everybody knows that the floor is so far away for me.  They even help me tie my shoes ha ha! I am happy to say that I am being pampered! Braxton Hicks contractions have started to kick in.  They are painless contractions that come and go and make my stomach feel tight and heavy.  Basically they are practice contractions because they are a preparation for the real event and allow the opportunity to practice breathing. My dreams have been so vivid lately weird things really! Last night I dreamed I had my baby girl in my arms and was going crazy looking for this specific outfit that I wanted to put on her and absolutely could not find it.

I hope you guys have been fine and I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving  hoping that you and your loved ones be blessed this season and throughout the rest of the year!

  2. so lovely to hear from you and that you are doing well in your pregnancy. Perhaps a slight bump in the road, but a little alteration in the diet should push you through to the end! You look great! just a bit longer and you'll be holding your baby girl :) Happy Thanksgiving to your and your beautiful family

  4. Oh no, the glucose test sounds awful. But I'm happy to hear you just have to do some dietary changes. And the walking sounds good to me :) How are you doing now?
